Another reaction...

Hives. From a squirt of Hershey's syrup. They got worse. And they stayed through the next day. She reacted to the corn (high fructose corn syrup)

We decided to make our own, corn-free version. I need to get a ketchup style squirt bottle for it. Hopefully, she will reach for a squirt of this next time. ;)

Recipe for corn-free Chocolate Syrup:
1 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups sugar (we use organic cane sugar)
1 1/2 cups water
Boil, and let cool.
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and refrigerate.

Not quite the same as Hershey's, but still yummy. Especially since it comes w/o hives. It's really nice over a sliced banana for an easy, allergy-free dessert.

I'm new to the world of kids' food allergies. We are eliminating the 8 most common allergens from our son's diet, and it is a lot of work! My heart goes out to you and your sweet Maegan.

We received our order from the natural candy store yesterday, and both of my boys were so excited! YUMMMY allergy-free candy! Thanks again for posting that link.

I've been reading your blog for a while, but I don't even remember how I found it. I don't have a blog of my own, I just like reading other great mom blogs!
